Every year the transition from high school to college is a big one, filled with learning opportunities, chances to redefine one's self, and moments where one must bravely step into the unknown. But for the incoming freshmen class of 2020, there is an added layer of fear and uncertainty as they prepare to make that big transition in the midst of a global pandemic.
No one knows what college will look like next fall. No one knows how dorm life will be different, how classes will be structured, what back to school season might be like, or how students will find their place on campus and in a community in this new CV-19 world. But we do know one thing- they will need places to belong. They will need a community to call home. They, maybe more than other years, will need people who see them, who know them, and who help them to grow in their faith. And we, here at the Wesley House at FSU, want to be able to be who those incoming students need in this difficult and challenging year.
But to do that, we need to be able to pivot quick, to change our plans, and to hustle a little extra. We need to be able to get the word out on campus, and throw some events that welcome people in. We need a little extra support to extend the warmest possible welcome to the class of 2020. So we're looking for 101 people who would be willing to give us $20. It isn't a ton, less than the cost of a take-out dinner, but when many people give a little, together we can do a lot.
